Lion Air Group Cabin Crew Master Water Evacuation Training: Ensuring Passenger Safety

Safety is paramount in the aviation industry, and Lion Air Group is committed to providing its passengers with the highest level of security. A key component of this commitment lies in the rigorous training of its cabin crew, specifically in water evacuation procedures. This comprehensive training program ensures that crew members are well-equipped to handle any emergency situation, guaranteeing passenger well-being.

A Deep Dive into Lion Air Group Cabin Crew Training

Lion Air Group cabin crew members undergo extensive training to become adept at providing passenger care, both in the air and on the water. This training goes beyond basic safety protocols, encompassing comprehensive emergency response scenarios, including water evacuations.

The Lion Group Training Center (LGTC) in Balaraja, Tangerang, serves as a hub for this vital training. Here, cabin crew members participate in simulated rescue drills, guided by experienced instructors. These drills are designed to mimic real-life situations, allowing crew members to develop crucial skills in a controlled environment.

Mastering Water Evacuation Procedures

During water evacuation drills, cabin crew members undergo a series of practical exercises. They learn to set up canopies on inflatable evacuation rafts, a critical procedure for nighttime evacuations. These canopies provide shelter from the elements, protecting passengers from the cold wind and ensuring their safety.

Each Lion Air Group aircraft is equipped with inflatable evacuation rafts capable of accommodating dozens of passengers. After thorough preparation, cabin crew members, wearing life vests, practice boarding and disembarking these rafts from a Boeing 737 mockup. They also engage in scenarios that address potential risks like shark encounters, preparing them for diverse emergencies.

Ensuring Proficiency and Continuous Improvement

Water evacuation training is mandatory for all Lion Air Group cabin crew and is conducted every 12 months. This consistent training ensures that crew members maintain proficiency in evacuation procedures and remain up-to-date on the latest safety protocols.

Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic Lion Group, emphasizes the importance of this training: “Through comprehensive training, Lion Air Group guarantees that every flight attendant is ready to provide exceptional service with all their heart.”

A Flight Attendant's Perspective

The rigorous training program has a profound impact on the cabin crew members themselves. Chreisna Bayu, a newly appointed cabin crew member, shared his perspective: “The more we learn about safety, the more we feel fear, but also the safer we become. The knowledge we gain here is practiced and applicable.”

Beyond Compliance: A Commitment to Safety

The comprehensive water evacuation training program exemplifies Lion Air Group's dedication to safety and passenger well-being. By equipping its cabin crew with the knowledge and skills to handle emergencies effectively, the airline ensures that passengers are in the best possible hands, even in the most challenging situations. This commitment to safety goes beyond mere compliance with industry standards, demonstrating a deep-rooted dedication to passenger security.
